This is something I've been trying to do too. This particular shot I took on a tripod, but I know I won't always have a tripod. I can get pretty clear shots, but I like them when the subject is clear and the background is fuzzy also.
I know this isn't much color and my backyard is not exactly the glamourous arena of depth that I'd like it to be, but for practicing this wasn't too bad IMO.
