Inanimate Emotion

Well, the fun news is that I won the challenge for last week (see Food, Glorious Food, top photo). The un-fun news is that I was in charge of picking the new topic and that was really super hard for me LOL. These are some great photographers and it was difficult!

Anyway "Inanimate Emotion" is what I chose - givng an inanimate subject a soul and making the viewer feel what the object is feeling. I added the word 'faceless' because I didn't want someone just taking a photo of a doll's face. However things that looked like faces, but weren't actually faces, seemed to be popular, so that was ok. Here is my entry this week. The face was UNINTENTIONAL! It just melted that way, but I felt lucky to capture it. (Go ahead, ask me for the long story behind it...it has to do with a certain 6 year old eating my other prop and me having to go in a completely different direction).

Hive Mind

No more Star Trek Voyager for me

and if you don't understand that, then we can't be friends anymore lol.

One-Eyed, One-Horned Flyin'

Brown Mosquito Eater

Yes, just a play on the song. If you've never heard it, please return to your rock and wait for the apocalypse.

Snail's Pace

Found the perfect subject LOL - he doesn't move very much

Weather or Not

These nice fluffy clouds look soft enough to touch

This little guy was having a hard time staying on the tree because it was shaking in the wind.

And then it was a dark and stormy day. (but it didn't rain)

Before Dinner

I can't think of a clever title - I've exceeded my quota of cleverness for today. I took these before dinner...end of story LOL

I just like this photo - as well as the panning photos I'm fond of, it's full of some very rich color (if only it were straight, but artistic license says panning need not be straight!). It was completely a sunset warmed coloring, no post processing.

Looks like this guy was hanging out waiting to find dinner too.

This bird looks full...so this is probably his evening 'stroll'

We have a nice tree in the front yard and it has one of these little berry/cherry things - here it is...all by itself.

One of our solar lights casting a shadow...not with its own light of course.

Lend Me Your ...

This was all natural lighting - longer exposures, but no flash or other light source besides some nice afternoon lighting.

Don't these look like little pearls all in a row?

Not very appetizing, but the end of the corn cob had an interesting texture.

Food! Glorious Food!

What is better than having a girl, who is trying to lose weight, take photos of food? LOL But I actually enjoy taking pics of the food more than eating it, so it's a start! (Next time I will concentrate on those imperfections too!)

I definitely could have picked a different backdrop for this...maybe next time, seeing as this dessert went the way of my boys' tummies! (ETA: I actually couldn't stand the backdrop on the one I had up, so I changed the photo)

But not the kiwi - the kiwi was all mine :)

There is a Boy Under All This Pudding

No, really, there is. Good thing it was shower time after this!

Let's make sure there's enough for spreading on my hair too.

Drop Kick

Oh you'd think after a rainy day I'd want to stay away from all things water based lol... but as much as I suffer from hay fever, I can't stay away from the great outdoors...at least my great front and back yards.

Holes in my Drawers

Come on, it's hard to come up with these titles lol. I took a couple of things out of the utensil drawer to photograph. I really like the first one a lot.

Grater than (ha ha - yes I can spell)

Steamy

Measuring Up

(My husband is 32 and a stud :) had to take this photo)

Junk Drawer

Everyone has a junk drawer, I'm sure...anyone who doesn't live inside a bubble anyway. This is sort of like my junk drawer day. It's not my best stuff, but it needed to be done.

I like how this looks like I'm pouring fire.

This one is just kind of fun

Sharp

I bet you can guess where I was hanging out for tonight's macro shots. These are staples for a staple gun. I like the first one best because it was exactly what I was hoping for. I'm not too great at the non-nature photos, but I'm working on it!

Random Curves

The first photo is of a spring from our porch swing

I could not begin to tell you what this is, but I can ask my husband if you really want to know because it was on his workbench LOL. I just liked the way the inside of it looked.

Under Lock & Key

Yes, it's been done, but it was on my husband's workbench and I hadn't been able to shoot anything today because of the rain...and besides, it hadn't been done by me yet. But now I can't say that.

And a smile

Well, I promised myself that I'd start adding other things to the portfolio other than just nature.
This is just a start. Be ready for a slew of very weird things I encounter...nothing is safe. I will shoot anything LOL.

A Little Nature

Took a friend's "daughter" to the park today. I put that in quotes because I really only took a photo of the little girl to the park for a school project. While we were there (my 3D son was with me as well) we took a couple of photos. I had hoped for more time, but my 3D child complained about the heat and being thirsty. Would you believe, today it is raining?

T(h)orn

These two photos are exactly how I'm feeling today.

This leaf with the tears in it caught my eye and it almost seems like the forefront leaf is pointing right to its imperfections. (love the colors)

This says "I will poke you if provoked, I'm pissed, leave me alone"

Along Came a...

He didn't sit down beside me, but yes, he did frighten me away. Ok, not away, but enough to take a step back.

Remember Captain EO? Well when I was little it scared the heck out of me so I took off my 3D glasses and it wasn't so scary anymore and quite tolerable. Same thing with looking TTL. All this spider did was turn around and it was enough of a quick movement to make me rip the camera from my eye and take a stumbling step away.
